What is your style?
I like documentary photography so I don’t like posing you too much, I want to be a storyteller behind the camera to capture meaningful moments, the moments that happen on your day. For a pre-wedding photo, I will offer some direction so you feel comfortable and look good.
What happens if the weather is bad?
For Pre-wedding photoshoot or Elopement wedding, we are happy to be flexible for rescheduling nearer the time which we both available if the weather is really really bad, so please stay longer in Queenstown as you can. For big weddings if everything is settled just embrace the rain. It can make for awesome photos, and I suggest preparing nice umbrellas. Don’t be so worried about the weather, we always have a plan B.
Which seasons/ months and locations that you think offer the best scenery?
There are no best seasons/months and locations in my mind, I like them all! Each season has different special scenery.
For example, Spring from late September and October are the cherry blossoms season; Late November and December are the stunning lupins flower season; Late December and January are the lavender season; Autumn in late April and May have the beautiful colourful leaves on the tree; From June to September most of mountain are coved with snow, but the temperature is a little bit chilly. About the locations you can see the pictures what it looks like, so just choose the locations you prefer is good.
Can I give you some specific shot or location we like for your reference?
Sure, if you have any preferred photos or locations just let us know and I’ll work them into the plan, I will also help make suggestions. If you have any hair & makeup ideas you can also prepare a few pictures to show the makeup artist.
How to obtain the Marriage Licence?
The wedding celebrant will help you but it’s your responsibility to apply it online, the license costs $150 + $33 and is paid by you to the New Zealand government. Once you have applied it is emailed to the wedding celebrant and he/she prints it and brings it along on the wedding day, and then sends it off after the ceremony. Also as the license has a three month validity, it’s best that you apply about 4-6 weeks before the wedding and no more than that, so that they have fall back room should you need to postpone the wedding due to the weather or lockdown etc.
Do you need to bring 2 witnesses for your elopement wedding?
If you go with a heli wedding, it’s not necessary, me and the helicopter pilot can be the witness during the ceremony and sign your wedding documents. But if your wedding is a ground ceremony and there is no videography add-on, you should bring at least one witness, otherwise a photographer / makeup assistant can be your waitress with extra charge.
How the wedding dress and suit rental works?
You can take a look at the Wedding Dress and Tux Rental page, and make an appointment with our Queenstown studio for dress fitting one or few days before your big day. There are quite a lot wedding gowns for rental, including basic and premium selections, basic selection has included in the photoshoot package for free to choose, but there may have extra charge $200-$400 each for the premium gowns depends on your package, totally at your will to choose or not, most of our dresses are between NZ size 6-12 (weight from 40kg - 60kg), only a few up to size 14. So if there is not much choice for you I will suggest you try on and hire a dress from your local bridal shop or I can recommend a few other dress rental shops in Queenstown for you.
The bride please prepare your own adhesive invisible bra pads. The suit only has basic selection for rental free which includes in the package, the suit including jacket and pants, so the groom please bring your own formal shoes and shirt. You can also bring your own dress or suit if you have.
What’s the location of accommodation in Queenstown you suggest?
Queenstown is a quite small town with good public transport, so it doesn’t matter where you live, but if you have a helicopter flight on your big day I will suggest your accommodation not too far away from the airport due to the helicopter hangar located in airport area, if a bigger room comes with lake or mountain view in your accommodation will helps a lot for the wedding preparation shoot. Better stay at Queenstown at least 3 days in case the weather is not good the helicopter flight may get canceled, we have a free rescheduling policy due to the bad weather.
Some nice views of the Queenstown accommodation list below, but you can also search for a nice place at Booking.com or Airbnb
Oaks Queenstown Club Suites / The Rees Hotel & Luxury Apartments / Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort / Platinum Queenstown etc.
How and when will I receive our photos?
I always speed up my workflow to deliver the photos to couples so they can share with family and friends as soon as possible, on average I need 4 weeks, though it can take up to 6 weeks during the busy season. You will receive a download link where you can keep and print your photos from.
